ERNEST reads a picture as sound. A line sweeps across it; every row is a pitch, high at the top, and the brightness under the line is how loud that pitch is. So a horizon hums, a fence rattles, and a face is a chord. Drag the two marks to loop a piece of the picture — the narrower the loop, the faster it repeats, until it stops being a rhythm and becomes a drone. Drone holds a single column for good. Everything after that is filter, delay, space and dirt. The four track keeps takes: hit Rec on a strip and what you are hearing lands on that track and loops, so you can lay a drone under a rhythm under a hiss and mix them with the faders. Rec at the top films the picture with all of it. Nothing leaves your phone: the picture and the recording are made here and saved by you.
