The refunc matrix played as a fruit machine, straight out of the cards: a material's photograph, a function's drawn icon, and what the cards say about that pair — the solution that was really built, with its name on the line below, or the question mark, drawn in the icons' own grammar, for a cell nobody has built yet.
Half the pulls land on a built pairing; the other half is the honest draw over the whole matrix, and there the question mark is the usual answer, because that is what the matrix mostly is. The machine reads the card index live, so a card typed this afternoon plays tonight.
