An Arnold RM 30 from 1984: a German-built motorhome on a Fiat Ducato chassis, with a 2.5 litre four-cylinder diesel of around 72 hp and a five-speed box. The Ducato was the camper base of the eighties and never stopped being one — roughly two thirds of the motorhomes in Europe stand on one.
Arnold sold the RM 30 on its body: an integral shell of seamless polyester, built so that it practically rules out leaks. Forty years on, the body has kept its word. It is underneath where he lets go.
It started as one, and then it wanted a reason to drive: a destination, a road, a light to run. So it is a game now. What you save is still only the drawing — where he went, in what he lost.
