What this is

The periodic, printed from the cards. Since August 2026 the card index — one markdown file per material, function and solution in its own repository — is the source of the Refunc periodic system. This page is a print of that pile: every material card against every function card, rebuilt the moment any card changes. It shows nothing a card does not say.

A cell can stand on three kinds of evidence, and the difference is the point: made means a solution card exists — the thing is real and has its own page; photographed means a picture was taken and no card was written yet; named means the material card claims the verb and nothing else survived. Everything else is open: the work nobody has done yet.

Open a cell and take its design brief — one sheet with the order on it, what already exists either side of it, and a prompt to draw it before it exists. This page writes nothing; editing happens on the cards themselves.

RT marks the far-fetched cells with an orange diamond, straight in the grid, in three steps that go further. RT: no material of the same family ever answered the verb, and the material never did anything in the verb's whole cluster. RT+: on top of that, the whole family never set foot in the cluster. RT++: and no material of the same form ever answered the verb — the farthest leap the cards can describe. All of it measured, never invented; a cell whose verb is what the thing was made for is never RT, and the deeper the leap, the heavier the diamond. Most of them can still be built — that is rather the point. Tap a diamond and it still gets a brief. The name is art with its first letter gone.

Leap is the same question with another meter. RT measures how far a cell lies from Refunc's own record; Leap measures how far it lies from what the language already knows: one minus the chance Jev (TypeSafe's System One model, read over the card pile in September 2026) gives that the material as found becomes something with that function. Grey is common sense, orange is a jump nobody's words have made yet — silo becomes trailer 0.86, crate becomes stool 0.08. Switch it on and every cell shows its ground; switch RT on as well and you see, inside the far-fetched, which leaps the world would find obvious and which nobody has been near. A cell that was built and still scores high is Refunc's own signature.
